How to manage your Instagram and Facebook from ChatGPT or Claude

If you already ask ChatGPT or Claude for help every day, you can also ask it to plan your posts, show what is waiting for approval and put together a monthly report. Here is what makes that possible, what to ask, and how to keep the final say.

Key takeaways
  • An MCP connector is a plug that lets an AI assistant like ChatGPT or Claude use another app on your behalf.
  • Connected to a social media tool, the assistant can create drafts, show your calendar, schedule posts and report on results.
  • Good requests are concrete: what, for which channel, by when, with which goal.
  • Keep approval with you: the assistant prepares, you decide what gets published.
  • Moonya's connector works with ChatGPT, Claude, Codex and other MCP clients, and it is included on every plan.

What an MCP connector is, in plain words

AI assistants are good at writing and thinking, but on their own they cannot touch your other apps. They do not see your content calendar, they cannot schedule a post, and they do not know which drafts are waiting for you.

MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard that fixes this. Think of it as a universal plug. An app publishes a "connector", you plug it into your assistant once, and from then on the assistant can use that app's tools when you ask it to. The app decides what the assistant is allowed to do, and you sign in to give permission.

The standard is open, so one connector can work in many assistants. ChatGPT and Claude support it, and so do coding tools such as Codex, Claude Code and Cursor. You can read more on the official site, modelcontextprotocol.io.

For a small business owner, the practical meaning is simple: you can run parts of your social media by typing a sentence in the chat you already use.

Why manage social media from a chat

  • One place. Many owners already use an AI assistant for emails, offers and ideas. Social media becomes one more thing you handle in the same window.
  • Plain language. You do not need to learn where every button is. "Show me what is scheduled for next week" works.
  • Context carries over. If you just wrote a newsletter with your assistant, you can say "turn this into a carousel" without copying and pasting.
  • Good for agencies. If you run several brands, one conversation can move between clients, as long as the tool keeps each brand separate.

It does not replace the app completely. Some steps, like signing in, paying or connecting a new social account, still happen in the browser for security reasons.

What you can ask

What is possible depends on the connector. With a full social media connector, requests like these become normal:

Planning

  • "Plan my posts for this week. Focus on the new autumn menu."
  • "Give me five post ideas for a dental clinic in November."
  • "Make a carousel from this text" (paste a blog post, a price list or a link).

Reviewing and approving

  • "Show drafts waiting for approval."
  • "Make the second slide shorter and change the call to action to BOOK."
  • "Approve the first two and schedule them for Tuesday and Thursday at 6 pm."

Calendar and automations

  • "What is going out in the next 14 days?"
  • "Move Friday's post to Saturday morning."
  • "Create a comment-to-DM automation: keyword PRICE, send our price list link."

Reports

  • "Make a monthly report: what we published, what performed best, what to repeat."
  • "Which post got the most reach this month, and why do you think it worked?"

Video can be handled in the chat too: pick a format, read the script, ask for changes and only then start the render.

Approval stays with you

Letting an AI touch your public accounts is a fair worry. The answer is to keep a human approval step between "draft" and "published".

  • Drafts first. The assistant creates drafts, not live posts. You see the slides, the caption and the networks before anything goes out.
  • Explicit confirmation for anything that costs or cannot be undone. Publishing right now, deleting, replying in your inbox and spending credits should always need a clear "yes" from you.
  • No guessing about your business. A good setup lets the assistant read what the tool already knows about your brand, and ask you when something is missing, instead of inventing facts.
  • You can revoke access. The connection is a permission you gave. You can remove it from the assistant or from the app at any time.

How to connect Moonya

Moonya is a social media autopilot for small businesses. It learns your brand from your website, creates posts and videos, and publishes to Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok, Threads, YouTube, Pinterest and Google Business, plus X as a paid add-on. By default, every post waits for your approval.

The Moonya connector lets you do this from ChatGPT, Claude, Codex and other MCP clients, including Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code and Gemini CLI. In the app, open AI assistants (MCP) to find the connector address and a step-by-step guide for your tool.

  • Claude and ChatGPT: add the connector address as a custom connector, sign in to Moonya in the window that opens, pick the workspace and click Allow. No API key needed. In ChatGPT this currently needs Developer mode, available on paid ChatGPT plans on the web.
  • Codex and other tools: create an API key in the app (up to 10 per workspace) and paste the ready-made configuration.
  • Ready-made commands: plan my content week, review waiting drafts, make a post from my text, monthly report, repeat what worked.
  • Agencies: on the Agency plan, one connection covers all client brands. Say "for brand X, create..." and Moonya switches, with brands kept separate.

Results show up in the chat: slides as images, videos as a preview with a link, calendars and stats as small tables. Anything that uses credits tells you the cost and waits for your confirmation. See it in action in the AI assistants section of our homepage, and compare plans on the pricing page.

Tips for better results

  1. Start every session with a status check. "What happened since last time?" gives the assistant fresh context: new drafts, published posts, anything that failed.
  2. Be specific. "Three posts about our Saturday brunch, for Instagram and Facebook, friendly tone, call to action TABLE" beats "make some posts".
  3. Give the assistant your material. Paste the menu, the price list or the announcement. Real facts make better posts than guesses.
  4. Review in batches. Once a week, ask for everything waiting for approval and go through it in one sitting.
  5. Open a new conversation after updates. Assistants load a connector's list of tools when a conversation starts, so new features appear in a new chat.

Two things people often set up right after connecting their assistant: a comment-to-DM automation that turns comments into clients, and a steady flow of Reels made without filming yourself.

FAQ

What is an MCP connector?

MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard that lets an AI assistant use another app's tools. A connector is the plug for one app. Once connected, you can ask the assistant to work in that app for you.

Can ChatGPT post to my Instagram directly?

Not on its own. With a connector to a social media tool, ChatGPT can create drafts and schedule posts through that tool. With Moonya, posts still wait for your approval by default.

Does it work with Claude as well?

Yes. Claude supports custom connectors. You add the connector address, sign in to the app in the window that opens and allow access.

Is it safe to connect an AI assistant to my social accounts?

Use connectors that keep a human approval step, ask for confirmation before anything costs money or cannot be undone, and can be disconnected at any time. Moonya works this way.

Do I need technical skills?

No for Claude and ChatGPT: you paste an address and sign in. Tools like Codex or Cursor use an API key and a short configuration that the app gives you ready to paste.

Which Moonya plans include the AI assistant connector?

All plans include it: Starter, Pro and Agency. The Agency plan adds one connection that covers all client brands. Every plan starts with a 7-day trial for $1.
